Third Shift [Video]
[It's been three days since the full moon took hold of Alex and sent him rampaging trough the halls of the Black Tide. Three days since he had called on Bennett to seek his fellow shifters' aid in his own change.
Three days since he had died.
Things were always fuzzy for Alex after a moon-forced change, and it took him a while to pull his thoughts together. The fact that he had died this time around was making it all the worse for him... even moreso as he didn't know yet that he'd actually died. He'd been known to loose days before, so it wasn't all that extraordinary in its own right... now it was just piecing it all together.
He's not smiling in the communicator feed, and he looks more tired than normal. The recovery period has been slower this time around, even if he'd woken up without any wounds as normal; he had no way of knowing that the wounds being gone was due to his death, and not his normal healing abilities.]
Hey all... my recovery period has been a bit slower this time around. I'm usually up and around a lot faster than this... three days since the full moon is pretty extreme. [His frown deepens as he looks around his room. Others might be able to see the shredded sheets, comforter and blood.
It was the blood that worried him the most, as he'd woken without any tell tale scars or wounds. Brows knit tightly as he refocuses his attention on the feed, rather than the condition of his cabin.]
I usually wake up fuzzy... not too many, if any memories of what happened... Can anyone fill me in on what I missed. Bennett?
[Why, no... he hasn't checked te feed for more than a moment to check the date and time.]

You don't remember anything?
No... I remember calling for Bennett over the commu-
[He trails off, a look of horror crossing his face. He hadn't even thought of looking at the communicator for posts. He'd been groggy and just hadn't thought.
He vanishes for several minutes, going back through the posts from the last few days and though they are few and far between, there is one of import.
When he reappears, he looks horrified and really upset.]
What happened?!?! Where's Bennett??
[ audio ]
Um, you and me should talk. I'm Lily.
Alex... where can I meet you?
[ audio ]
[Video ---> Commentlog]
[And he's off to meet this girl he's never met, hoping to get some answers as to the mess he'd caused while shifted. He takes the stairs up one floor from his room, arriving at the food court easily in the five minute block.
There aren't many passengers on board the ship, outside the nameless and crew and he hopes to recognize the owner of the voice when she arrives.]
[ commentlog ]
Hey! I'm Lily. You're Alex, right? The, uh... The big cat thing?
commentlog forever
Yeah, I'm Alex... good to meet you, Lily. I'm the big cat... You saw me that night? What the hell happened? Ben- Is Bennett okay? [Because he hasn't seen or heard from him and what had the Captain done, holy shit???]
commentlog forever and ever
[Which Lily can't really wrap her head around. Ben killed Alex in self-defense, why is he getting punished?]
no subject
Oh God...
[The his brows knot together and his frown deepens.]
Ben killed me? [Then his eyes widen in horror as he realizes what the Captain's done.]
He's... he's in the brig?! But... I'm not... I mean, clearly I'm not... He... He was defending you... he was defending himself! Why is he being punished?! I'm not dead and who would let themselves be attacked and not defend themselves? I told him to do what he needed to do to keep everyone safe...
[He runs a hand up and through his hair.]
I don't understand...
no subject
[She averts her eyes and shrugs.]
We can't really do anything but wait until he's out, I guess. I told the captain it was self-defense, but she didn't care.
no subject
This is exactly what I didn't want to have happen... Jesus, I attacked people... [is gaze jerks upright and he looks over Lily with wide eyes.] Are you okay??
[And then there's Ben. Alex groans and sits back in his chair.]
Is there any way of pleading with the Captain? I'll take his punishment... whatever it is. It's not right that he's in there.
no subject
[Probably.]
You can ask Rowe, but I don't think she'll budge.
no subject
We hope...
[He exhales sharply, nodding at the last. He would ask the Captain; it was the least he could do.]
I'll try, anyway... The worst is a 'no' and the best is a 'yes,' so one gotta at least try.
[But now he's going to look at you, Lily, 'cause he can't help but be curious.]
What did I do to you, if you don't mind my asking... I mean, you look great... I'd have never known.
no subject
Welllll... [She sits in a chair next to him.] I was going back to my room from the library after I heard you on the network, and I ran into you. You thought I'd be easy prey, I think, because you pounced on me pretty quick and scratched up my arm. Then I punched you in the face, and then you bit my arm and threw me down the hall, and then Ben showed up and killed you. Couple'a hours later, I met a healer, and he made my arm all nice and new.
[A pause.]
You're a total dick when you're a cat, by the way.
no subject
He arches a brow slightly at one point, though, and a grin touches his lips.]
You punched me in the face? [His tone isn't mocking or doubtful. If anything, he sounds terribly impressed.
Then he makes a face and shakes his head and hair falls in his face again. He begins to braid it, not needing a mirror as his fingers weave the mass of hip length hair into something far more manageable.]
I'm not always a dick when I'm in my cat forms; just during a full moon. Any other time it's just plain old me upstairs... Not the bloodthirsty killing machine.
no subject
[It was awesome. Uppercut straight to the jaw.]
... Wait, cat forms? Like... you have more than one?
[That's simultaneously disconcerting and really, really cool. Lily watches Alex braid his hair closely. She always wanted to learn how to do that. Usually she'd go to Herz, but...]
What other cat forms are there?
no subject
If I didn't know better, I'd say you had a good time of that. [It's not said in a judgmental manner; actually, he loves a good round of sparring as much as the next Were.
He also notes the interest she's showing in his hair braiding. He secures the braid by twisting it up and through itself.
Then he's nodding, a wry grin on his lips at her reaction.]
Yeah, be glad the other dick didn't make an appearance. You said 'big cat' before, so I'm figuring you didn't see the half-man form... All two-legged warrior cat. Pretty typical horror movie fodder.
[He grins again.]
Wanna see?
no subject
Yes.
no subject
You got it!
[He stands from the chair, looking down at what he's wearing with a pursing of his lips. He'd gone with a flowy organza set today; something that looked fresh outta the movie Aladdin. And while he gave no fucks about what people might think about him wearing typical female fashions, he wore them good.
He ends out removing the poet shirt, folding and setting it onto the table behind him.]
So, you saw the big cat, right? [He toes off his sandals, sliding them under the table with his foot.] And then there's this form. [He strikes a pose for added flair.]
And then there is a half-and-half form right about in the middle. [As he speaks, the changes already starts. Had Lily seen him change on the full moon, she'd already see the definite differences in that and this. Where the full moon forced the change, this was freely given by his body. The breaking of bone seemed to be replaced almost by a fluidity that was surreal as to appear almost fake, if it weren't happening right in front of her.
He grows taller and thicker of body, fur replacing skin as bones shift and change as easily as he breathes.
It's over as quickly as it started and then he's standing before her, nearly 7 ft tall and all corded muscle, his pants now hanging far less loosely around more definitively male hips.]
no subject
That is so super cool! You're so... tall. And fuzzy. And cool!
no subject
It took some getting used to at first... walking around on my toes instead of the flat of my feet. [He lifts one foot pad and then the other, shifting his weight without thought to compensate.] And the tall thing... I'm already tall, but now... I loom!
[He looks down at her, eyes bright with intelligence and himself. No big crazy killer here, nope.]
You've caused a fair bit of trouble.
Yeah... I can add any amount of regret and apology to that, but it won't undo the fact that it happened; even if I'd do pretty much anything to go back in time and see it undone.
[He sits back in his chair, slender fingers falling away from his hair. He's unsettled and unhappy.]
I didn't want this. [His voice is heavy, and he looks away again, brows knitting together as he shakes his head harshly.] I've never hurt anyone before this...
