[VIDEO] Strange things...
Uh. Alright. So I've been spending some time in the library, and I had a question for anyone further forward in time than the year 2013:
Do chickens become the dominant species on Earth? And are lizards a major political party? ...Do either of them farm pickles in what is now considered the Middle East?
[She looks mortified to even be asking.]
I swear I have a good reason for asking.
[Pause.]
Also, Godot, I need to speak with you in person at your earliest convenience.
[Yikes, that sounded cold.]

[Granted, if this scene had happened in court like in his imagination, she couldn't get her hands on his damn visor.]
And, as I've said before: I haven't lied to you.
[Yet. His voice is softer, now, though, the familiar voice of her mentor, lover, whatever you wanted to call them. Diego Armando is, apparently, alive, and sitting criss-cross applesauce on the floor in front of her.]
I evaded answering, perhaps, but, to my knowledge, I still haven't lied. As to why...
[He clears his throat, and reaches for his coffee. It's still warm. Warm enough, anyway.]
... I remembered what you were like at that age. I wasn't to bring that woman up if I didn't have to. Unless you're not dealing with the panic attacks anymore?
[He was never sure if she'd gotten a handle on them before his poisoning or not.]
no subject
[It's a metaphor, you see.]
And...not only that, but you fooled my magatama...
[She doesn't really want to comment on Dahlia, so she doesn't. She won't admit she's even having nightmares here. Or that some small part of her is almost relieved to be trapped here, away from her. ]

[He gestures vaguely at the Magatama with a lopsided, cocky grin. That's right. He fooled with the spirits from beyond... or something. Anyway, "doggedly" is probably the nicest adverb he could come up with. You have literally asked him about Diego Armando in every conversation you've had so far.]
The order of events, as I am aware of them, goes something like this:
One: Dahlia Hawthorne poisoned Diego Armando during an interview he was conducting in an attempt to gather the final pieces of the puzzle to be used against her in court.
Two: Their meeting place was fairly public, so concerned citizens were able to call for EMTs almost immediately. That woman might have called them herself. That's a detail I was never able to uncover.
Three: Though his life was saved, Armando fell comatose for five years.
Four: In 2016, you died in unrelated circumstances. I'll spare you details, again, unless you want them.
Five: In 2017, Armando regained consciousness. His first questions were, of course, after the wellbeing of his partner, Mia Fey. Considering Hawthorne had gone so far as to attempt to kill him, he could only assume Miss Fey had been next on her list. Mia Fey had survived Dahlia Hawthorne... but was, unfortunately, no longer alive.
It was there and then, that Armando died. Broken heart, as I've said. The shell of a man he left behind took on the name Godot as a working alias, for various reasons.
And, that is the man you see before you today.
[Time for a dramatic coffee sip.]

[Mia looks...pensive. She hadn't known Mr. Armando all that well before she was brought here. She considered him a good person, a good attorney, a friend, even, but....
To lose his whole sense of self? Over her? It's hard to imagine, and yet the proof sits in front of her. And then there were these court records. "Fey-Armando". The only theory Mia has for this is that they got married. Though, somehow, that was easier to imagine than the tragedy the man in front of her just told.]
We were... Close, I take it.

Apparently, he didn't expect her to ever figure out his identity. Bruce Wayne, he ain't.
Godot's face doesn't change at all when she speaks. Maybe he could be a decent actor someday...]
I'm not going to force you into any kind of relationship just because I had a history with another "you," if that's what you're thinking. I'm not delusional, Miss Fey.
no subject
[She actually wasn't. Mostly, she's trying to figure out how to approach this whole...thing. She's coming up short.]
...We were supposed to go on a date the other day, you know. I guess I stood you up to get brought here.
[She laughs, a bit dryly, and decides that coffee he brought seems like a good idea. She grabs the cup and takes a sip. She hopes it'll give her some time to clear her head.]
no subject
May I ask whose idea it was? Curiosity leads me to wonder whether or not we experienced the same version of events.
[Considering lizards apparently overtake the libertarians, it's not an unreasonable thought.]
no subject
[She smiles a bit, though. She actually sounds like she was looking forward to it.]
I was kind of surprised, actually. I guess it doesn't much matter now.
[It absolutely matters now. Kind of.]
no subject
[He's said with a quiet little shrug, but it's a sentence he never, ever thought he'd be able to say in this context.]
no subject
[All the vitriol from earlier seems to have abated and what's left is just...A very emotionally--and kind of physically--exhausted Mia Fey. Who really is just confused and wants to go to bed.
But, on the other hand, she had been curious how that date would have turned out after reading those case reports.]

[CAPTAIN! THE FLIRT FACTOR HAS BEEN TURNED UP TO MAXIMUM! SIR, THE SYSTEM CAN'T HANDLE THIS SWAGGER!]
I'M GIVIN' IT ALL SHE'S GOT CAPTAIN
[She laughs a little.]
...Think you could excuse another few hours? ...I could use a nap.
[Caffeine or not, she was pooped.]
I CAN DO ZAT! I CAN DO ZAT!
[He knows they may or may not have all the time in the world, but a nap is a perfectly reasonable.]
Either way, I'm glad I brought you half-caff. Calmed you down pretty quick.
[Sure, Godot, it was the coffee that did that.]
no subject
[She doesn't really swear a LOT, but this conversation has been an exception. She's laughing as she says it, though.]
I'll...come find you when I wake up.
no subject
[He stands, dusts off his pants a bit. Plucks one of the law books out of the pile.]
I'm interested to see what you've uncovered in this... other version of events. Good bedside reading.
[It also makes a lovely coaster for his mug!]
no subject
[Because she has told Diego Armando that at least 100 times and she only knew "him" for a few months.]
Check out the ones when we hire that Phoenix Wright kid. He's a trip to read about.
[With that she very gracefully kicks her shoes off and curls up, on top of her covers, still in her day clothes, and gets comfortable. Pajamas are for the weak willed.]
no subject
[He steps over the rest of the books, and leans back to get his last word in: ]
Goodnight, kitten.
[And with a click of the latch, he's gone. At least he's not very far.]
