AUDIO - 001
[There is generic sound of movement as the device is shifted around before Link actually speaks. His voice is a bit strained and he sounds exhausted and confused.]
Right. Is this thing on? I think I figured out how to turn it on.
[There is more shuffling.]
I'll just assume it's on. Right. So. How do I put this.
[Link sighs and there is more shuffling.]
You know what? Here. See this? Not to insult anyone's aesthetic or what have you, but why shrunken heads? Behind the toilet? That talk? I mean I've seen some pretty weird things, but...
[Link pauses. There is general silence for a few seconds.]
You know what. Never mind. It's not that odd. I had another question anyway.
[There is more shuffling, followed by a deep breath.]
What is this? I don't know what this is. I mean it looks like a sink but the faucet is too high up and the knobs too low and there's a sink right there anyway. So why is there a second sink in a large box? Is this some sort of weird custom for you? If it is, please, explain. It's odd.
[More shuffling, and the sound of footsteps.]
Also I was wondering where the baths are? I haven't seen one yet. I'd kind of like to bathe at some point. Also, where are my weapons? I want those back. You know just in case something wants to, I don't know, attack me?
You do realize you have monsters in the halls. Disturbing, shuffling, monsters. They kind of look like corpses? So I'd like to have adequate protection. In my general experience monsters don't remain docile.
Actually they're never docile...this whole place is just strange.
[Link moves the device in his hands again. He's mumbling.]
Now how do I turn this--oh. There's no visual. Weird.

Well things worth it are never easy.
Ever.
And they don't really tend to be worth it either.

Did these parties happen a lot?
[ audio ]
[... No, there could be a party soon. Two weeks ago, when Lily was on the Shore, it was the middle of June. But on the Black Tide, the communicators say it's the middle of October. Weird.]
Actually... There might be a Halloween party. I don't know.
[ audio ]
[Link had never heard of that word before.]

[ audio ]
What would people dress up as?
[ audio ]
[ audio ]
Huh.
This sounds so cool. Why didn't we have a halloween....?

We have a holiday like that! Well, a celebration of remembrance on the day the Goddess sent us into the Sky. You're supposed to give gifts to each other, and one girl on the islands is chosen to represent the Goddess in a ceremony. We have a race for the students of the Academy and the winner gets to play the role of the Hero!
Zelda represented the Goddess last year and I won the race.
[Funny, it seemed so long ago that he and Zelda had gone through the ceremony.]
I missed the celebration this year, actually, and spent the day talking with the Gorons....

[Link sounds really excited now.]
I still have Zelda's harp! And I know the song the maiden's supposed to sing for the ceremony.
[ audio ]
[... Probably.]

On Skyloft we had the Wing Ceremony at the same time which the Academy students graduation. Otherwise the Knight's just go through it. The winner get's to be the 'Chosen Hero' in the Goddess Ceremony and get's bragging rights for the full year.
Which is why Groose was such an ass.
One of the village girls is Spirit Maiden to represent Hylia. Normally they spend most of the ceremony alone together. The hero gives the maiden a statue to offer in sacrifice to Hylia and then the Ballad of the Goddess is performed, uhm. Just a second.
[Link shuffles around and then begins to strum a soft melody. After a minute, a little awkwardly, he begins to sing.]
Oh youth, guided by
the servant of the goddess
unit earth and sky
and bring light to the land
Oh youth, show the way
To the Light Tower
And a path shall open
And a song you shall hear
[The music continues for a minute after the lyrics stop and then suddenly quiets. Link is silent for a second.]
Sorry. It sounds wrong to just...explain it.
[ audio ]
[She didn't get to write down the whole thing, but they can go over the details later!]
I think we're gonna have to skip over the whole Academy graduation thing... But everything else, we can probably totally do! What's the race like? Is it like an obstacle course or something?
[ audio ]
My singing's not so great, but thanks.
[He sighs, and there is a sort of sound like he'd flopped back onto a bed or something.]
An obstacle course? Sort of? It's a show of skill like one cuz we're supposed to show what we've learned, but it's on Loftwings with nothing but the clouds below. When the Knights do it it has more flare than the Academy. Like rings and things you're supposed to hit with arrows or slingshots or something.
The whole thing is one test of skill. The best wins. So if you're fast, quick, and have a good handle and connection with your Loftwing you're more likely to get the statue.
...Groose likes to cheat though, so I guess that made it more like an obstacle course....
[ audio ]
[And his name is stupid.]
Okay, alright, um... I don't think we have any Loftwings. I mean, we could? But I didn't see anything but cardinals [shudder] in the garden. I can ask the captain. But if we don't, I think we'll have to make an obstacle course. And we have to make it super awesome. And hard. Like, so hard that only true warriors can do it.
[ audio ]
There might be Loftwings here? But it's a boat...?
[It seems a little strange to think of Loftwings on a ship. They'd be miserable.]
Making an obstacle course would be just as good though. Only the best would fit the role of the chosen hero.
[ audio ]
[Zeshat knows the Elegante had its fair share of weird, outlandish shit.]
Oh! And there's a gym on deck 8. We can set up the course there?
